Bruckner: Symphony No. 4 – London Symphony Orchestra, Bernard Haitink
Bernard Haitink is renowned as the world’s leading conductor of the works of Bruckner.
Bruckner’s Fourth Symphony (Romantic) conjures up visions of mediaeval knights, huntsmen, and enchanted woodland, particularly through the prominent use of the horn. One of his most popular pieces, Bruckner treated it to many revisions and this recording features the second version, of 1877 – 78, in the Nowak edition published in 1953, with the 1880 Finale.
